Description
The Cape Florida lighthouse has been a fixture on the southern tip of Key Biscayne, just off Miami, since the mid 1800's. Having suffered Indian attacks from the Calusa Indians, the lighthouse has seen Spaniards, Civil War, World wars, the Great Depression, dozens of hurricanes, and suffered neglect in the 70's. In the 90's it was refurbished, and painted white, and stands as a backup light to Fowey Rocks, just off shore. This image was captured from a boat in the channel that passes through Stiltsville, just off the tip of Key Biscayne.
