Description
Twilight over the Florida Everglades, with clouds reflected in the river. The Everglades is known as the "river of grass," and this image shows that below what appears from a distance to be a grassy plain is actually a shallow waterway that extends from south of Lake Okeechobee all the way to Florida Bay. This spot is along Tamiami Trail between Miami and Naples, and the water extends westward from this point all the way across the state. This is truly a flowing river, although it's difficult to see that up close!
