Ohio is home to an incredible natural treasure… Hocking Hills State Park. This scene is photographed along the trail to Old Man’s Cave, which winds along the edge of steep sandstone formations surrounded by dense woods.
This photograph was made in March, 2016, a good time of year to get sunlight on the cliffs as the trees are still sparse of leaves from the winter. Hocking Hills State Park, Ohio, USA. This is Appalachian Ohio.
Made on a 1961 Graflex Century Graphic camera with a Xenar 105mm lens (the prime lens for this camera), captured on Kodak 400 TMY-2 120 (6×9) film hand processed. 400ASA, 1/60s, f/5.6, lens shifted 3cm up (accounting for fall-off in focus at the lower edge, and the straight verticals on the trees).
